Description

Art21 is a non-profit organization with the mission of bringing contemporary art and artists to a mainstream audience, primarily through media and information technology. Contemporary art is frequently the lightning rod for cultural criticism, as the interests and motivations of the artists creating it are often unknown to or misunderstood by the general public. A major Art21 goal is to provide citizens the opportunity to discover their own innate abilities to understand contemporary art and to explore the possibilities for creative self-expression. We anticipate Art21 will grow to be a major conduit for the American public to learn about contemporary art and artists, and to provide opportunity for greater knowledge and involvement nationally and locally.
