About Us

Since 1965, Midtown Educational Foundation (MEF) has helped Chicago’s inner-city youth achieve successful futures. MEF alumni now serve the community in a variety of professions—as firemen, teachers, accountants, lawyers, and computer engineers, to name a few. How is MEF able to achieve success? MEF enables students to shine through its academic and character education programs, provided at the Midtown Center for boys and the Metro Achievement Center for girls in Chicago. MEF programs each year serve over 1,000 youth in 4th-12th grade and their parents. Volunteers drive the programs by providing individual tutoring and support that are key to the students’ success. MEF students enter college at five times the rate than that of their peers. Midtown-Metro celebrates 100% high school graduation rate and college enrollment 10 years in a row.
