Jobs Unlimited, Inc. (JUI) is a consumer-run, private, not-for-profit organization established in 1991 with the mission of providing vocational training and paid employment opportunities to adults with serious mental illness. Since its inception, JUI has provided paid employment, job training services and a social support system for over 450 adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses, giving them the opportunity to develop self-esteem, control and self-worth and move forward into competitive employment in the community. JUI's employees ("consumers") live with serious mental illness and are attempting to recover from the devastating effects of diseases such as Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder and the tragic impact they have on the career trajectories of adult lives. The vision of JUI is focused on the widely accepted belief that work plays an important role for a person recovering from a mental illness. Currently, JUI's sole program, the Paid Employment Program, provides consumers the opportunity to train and work in a community retail setting, the Upscale Resale Thrift Shop.
