Since 1963, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) has made a lifetime of achievement possible for 10,000 talented young people from underserved and underrepresented communities. We run three separate programs.
SEO Scholars: Eliminating the Achievement Gap for Low-Income Students
Our eight-year academic program prepares low-income public high school students for admission to the nation's most competitive colleges—and supports them through college graduation. All Scholars are accepted to four-year colleges and 95% graduate within 6 years (compared to 54% of all college students who graduate in 6 years nationally). (www.seoscholars.org)
SEO Career: The Nation's Premier Internship Program for Underrepresented College Students
Our summer internship program has placed more than 6,000 undergraduate students in paid summer internships with our banking, corporate leadership, law, non-profit and private equity partners. Historically, 75% of SEO Career interns at banks and global companies receive offers to return full-time. (http://www.seo-usa.org/career/)
SEO Alternative Investments: Creating Diverse Opportunities
Our educational program provides exposure, training and mentoring opportunities to talented professionals traditionally underrepresented in the alternative investments sector. Our ten-month Fellowship program launched in 2009 with founding partners KKR and TPG Capital. We also host an annual Alternative Investments Conference. (http://www.seoaltinvestments.org/).
