Description

Founded in 1958 with a membership of 47, New York Road Runners (NYRR) is one of the world's foremost running organizations. NYRR is a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of running and walking for health, recreation, and competition, and provides full professional services related to all aspects of racing. Our signature event is the ING New York City Marathon. We also conduct races nearly every week in Central Park and also put on events throughout the five boroughs. Some of these events help raise money for various causes. All help raise money for our Community Services Programs. Our Central Park Community Services programs include free walks for Senior Citizens, Daily Group Runs and The Central Park Safety Patrol. Our youth programs include City Sports for Kids, The New York Road Runners Foundation, and the dozen or so kid's events that we hold in conjunction with our major races throughout the year. The organization has a full-time staff of more than 60 employees, supplemented by a network of thousands of volunteers, serving more than 40,000 members from every U.S. state and more than 100 countries.
