CAMBRIDGE IN AMERICA (CAm)
Founded in 2000, Cambridge in America (CAm) is the
alumni, development, and communications center for the American constituents of
the University of Cambridge. A historic institution of higher education,
Cambridge consistently ranks among the top five research universities
worldwide. In its distinctive setting on the River Cam in southeast England,
the University educates more than 18,000 students annually and its graduates
have been ranked the most employable in the world by the International New York
Times. The University boasts a world-class and long-standing reputation
for excellence. 92 Cambridge academics and alumni have won the Nobel Prize, and
they have won in every category.
Sustaining a university of this caliber demands continual
investment in new facilities, new areas of study, and most importantly, in
people. Fundraising efforts and
innovative partnerships are vital, including those in North America. This
current year, Cambridge in America is on track to help raise over $80 million to fund the full
spectrum of educational and research initiatives at the University and the 31
Colleges. With an ambitious new campaign launched, the “Dear World . . . Yours,
Cambridge” campaign (https://www.philanthropy.cam.ac.uk), CAm is gearing up to
raise even more. A new international campaign—only the second in Cambridge
University’s over 800-year-long history—has been launched to ensure that Cambridge
remains at the forefront of institutions of higher education across the globe.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Yun Won Cho, Cambridge
in America has renewed its dedication to its mission of providing expertise in
fundraising and alumni relations, growing the base of support and engaging
alumni and friends in the US. CAm recently
moved its offices in midtown to the Hippodrome Building, steps from Bryant
Park. With a brand-new office space and dedicated
team, the organization is poised to fulfill its vision to become
internationally-known for leadership and excellence in development and alumni
To achieve its promise, Cambridge in America fosters a
culture of high performance and collaboration. We highly value our staff
and promote a working environment that leverages talent, encourages initiative
and respects work-life balance. 25 professionals make-up the team. This is an exceptionally exciting time to
join the team at Cambridge in America as we prepare to support Collegiate
Cambridge in its current £2
billion campaign. Cambridge in America
has already helped raise over $140 million toward
the campaign goal. Key
lead gifts from U.S. donors include a gift to Pembroke College for the
Ray and Dagmar Dolby Court, William
H. and Weslie Janeway’s gift for Economics, and
the Mohamed El-Erian Center
for Economics and Finance.
