Safe Kids Worldwide

Safe Kids Worldwide (SKW) is a nonprofit organization working to protect kids on the move, at home and at play. Preventable injuries are the number one cause of death for children in the United States. Throughout the world, almost one million children die of an injury each year, and almost every one of these tragedies is preventable. Safe Kids works with an extensive network of more than 400 coalitions in the U.S. and with partners in more than 32 countries to reduce traffic injuries, drownings, falls, burns, poisonings and more. Since 1988, when Safe Kids was founded at the Children’s National Health System with support from Johnson & Johnson, there has been a 60 percent decrease in the unintentional injury rate among children 19 years and younger. But losing one child is one too many, and we don’t want any parent to have to go through that anguish. That’s why we’re working to raise awareness and encourage policymakers, safety professionals, educators, communities and families to get involved. Working together, we can do much more to protect kids.
