About us

Friends of Inti Wara Yassi (FIWY) is the UK branch of Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY), a Bolivian NGO.

CIWY was founded in 1992 and currently manages three refuges for wild animals in the Bolivian Amazon. CIWY's mission is to provide the best quality of life possible to wildlife rescued from illegal trading, and to diminish animal trafficking through educational programs and public action, in partnership with the authorities and other organizations.

FIWY was founded in 2008. We support CIWY's work by providing administrative support, managing international fundraising, raising international awareness and establishing new partnerships.

CIWY's and FIWY's joint vision is a world in which wildlife lives freely in its natural habitat; without the threat of indiscriminate hunting, senseless capture or the destruction of its ecosystem.
