European Foundation for Democracy

The European Foundation for Democracy (EFD) is a Brussels-based non-profit organisation dedicated to upholding Europe's fundamental principles of individual freedom and equality of all citizens, regardless of their gender, ethnic background or religion. EFD works with grassroots activists, media, policy experts and government officials throughout Europe to identify constructive approaches to address issues of integration and counter-radicalization in Europe, and the EU’s support for democratic reform globally. We have been an outspoken critic of terrorist ideologies and a supporter of democratic reformers throughout Europe and the Muslim world.

Based in Brussels, EFD is present at the centre of the European political arena. In a very short period of time, we have managed to build significant credibility as well as alliances with decision-makers at European and national levels, and with like-minded individuals and organisations, through activities such as publishing research, hosting briefings and public events, training activists and implementing legislative and advocacy campaigns.
