Today, progressive candidates and organizations alike understand that conducting an effective online campaign is no longer optional, it is essential to winning. Yet, they have a difficult time finding staff with the skills and experience to produce real results.

The New Organizing Institute (NOI) was created by the Internet gurus from the Lamont, Kerry, Dean, Clark, and Edwards campaigns as well as MoveOn, the DNC, AFL-CIO, and top fundraising and direct marketing experts to teach a new generation of online organizers and Internet campaign directors how to conduct a successful email fundraising campaign, organize volunteers online, outreach to bloggers, coordinate field and online work, and make smart choices about political technology.

NOI is:

  • Dramatically expanding the pool of trained, technology-enabled grassroots organizers and campaign operatives available to progressive candidates and organizations.
  • Consolidating and disseminating knowledge gained in the field out to progressive campaigns in order to preserve the progressive advantage in online organizing.
  • Connecting progressive candidates and organizations with experts in online organizing technology and strategy in order to maximize the effectiveness of their campaigns.
  • Counteract the subtle discrimination that is causing the field of online organizing to exclude people of color and women, dramatically reducing the quantity of talent and experience available to progressive organizations in this field.
