The Backpack Project, Inc.

The Backpack Project is a non-profit charitable organization devoted to addressing the educational supply needs of area children in underserved communities throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. We provide backpacks, school uniforms, mentoring programs and journaling workshops to children in need. Our backpacks provide a symbol of hope, encouragement and boosts self-esteem. Every child should be fully equipped and ready to learn on the first day of school. It is our goal to fulfill this fundamental need.

In addition to our backpack donations, we also hold monthly mentoring programs through our Backpack Buddies mentoring program.  Through cultural, educational, and recreational programs and field trips, these workshops provide an opportunity for the kids to experience life outside of their community.
