Salvonaris Africa are the expert providers of volunteer experiences in Africa. We operate only in Africa, so we know the local area and all the host organisations inside out.
We can show you where to get the best nyama choma (barbecue) in Malindi, or the type of books the children at orphanage in Kilifi like to read. We believe that this is how volunteering should be - a truly authentic experience, with an organisation who really cares about the local community.
But what makes Salvonaris Africa really special is that we are driven by social change, not by profit. In fact, Salvonaris was formed in response to the growing number of profit-making organisations who exploit poverty stricken communities and well-meaning volunteers for financial gain, while white washing this practice as 'Responsible Tourism'.
As a registered Not-For-Profit organisation Salvonaris Africa are dedicated to doing things differently. Take a look at the six principles that guide everything we do (represented by the six hands in our logo!)
Volunteer With Purpose Volunteers will only ever be placed in organisations where their skills will make a measurable positive impact to the objectives of the host organisation.
Always for Community Interest All profit will be invested responsibly into our partnered organisations to be used for the advancement of their objectives or reinvested back into Salvonaris Africa to sustain the quality of our service and to finance company run community projects.
Ethical Project Partners All host organisations must strictly operate on a not for profit basis and for the greater good of the local community.
Every Volunteer Matters The commitment to delivering a consistently high service which extends to every element of the volunteer experience. This includes pre-departure support, in-country support, accommodation and food, and additional activities during the trip.
No Skill is Useless The recognition that every individual has a unique skill set to contribute and it is the responsibility of Salvonaris Africa to find and utilize a volunteer's skill set in the most advantageous way to benefit the host organisation.
Authentically African Salvonaris Africa will always solely focus on the development of local communities in Africa. As well as always delivering an authentic experience that encourages responsible tourism and exposes volunteers to true African culture.
