Founded in 1958, HOBY's mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students.
HOBY programs provide youth selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences. HOBY also provides adults with opportunities to make a significant impact on the lives of youth by volunteering.
If you are unfamiliar with HOBY, each accredited high school in the state of Oregon is invited to select at least one sophomore to be the official representative to the HOBY seminar. This year, high schools may opt to send more than one representative—please contact us for further information. HOBY seminars are held around the world to inspire youth to become leaders in their families, schools, communities, peer groups, states, etc. The quality of HOBY is noted nationally through endorsements by several organizations, including: the American Association of School Administrators, the Council of Chief State School Officers, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Parents Teachers Association, and the National School Boards Association.
