Tree House Books is a non-profit organization that creates interactive programs to encourage the North Central Philadelphia neighborhood to explore books and learning in new ways.
Our mission is to grow and sustain a community of readers, writers, and thinkers in North Central Philadelphia.
To learn more about Tree House Books, check out our website at www.treehousebooks.org or our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TreeHouseBooks.
Our Programs include:
Free Tutoring Time: Tuesday-Friday 3:00-5:00 During tutoring time children complete their homework, participate in a fun and educational activity, and are served a healthy snack.
Our Bookstore: We are stocked with new and lightly used books, specializing in children’s books and African American literature. All of the profits go straight towards the activities we do within the community.
Tree Shade Summer Project: Our Summer Camp Program!
Magazine Project: Wednesdays 5:30-7:00 The children and community members create their own magazine, filling it with artwork and original stories and poetry.
Junior Staff Program: We are training young adults to be leaders in their community! This program allows our older children to take a leadership role and have more responsibility in their community.
Community Events: Our community events include but are not limited to open mics, round table discussions, film screenings, and much more. Keep in touch with us to learn about upcoming special events!
Young Friends of Tree House (Temple University chapter): Meeting times depend on the availability of the current President, for more information email youngfriendsthb@gmail.com.
