Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program

About Us

BCAP makes learning an adventure! BCAP is a program of Heart of Brooklyn, a unique partnership among six of Brooklyn's most treasured cultural institutions: Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park and Prospect Park Zoo. BCAP takes advantage of these incredible resources by offering thematically linked, hands-on experiences at each of our partner institutions for children ages 7-12.

During our award-winning summer program, our campers visit two of our Heart of Brooklyn partner institutions each day. There, they engage in creative projects, exploration, experimentation, games, and educator led tours that weave thematic connections between art, world culture, literature, history, nature, and science. We also offer an After School Program in the spring, once a week for fourteen weeks.

BCAP Adventures come from backgrounds as diverse as Brooklyn itself! We welcome children from all cultures, economic backgrounds, and family structures. We believe that one of the best ways to learn about diversity is by building friendships with diverse groups of people. We build a sense of community centered on common interests and respect for differences.

BCAP offers financial assistance to make our programs accessible to all families. Over 50% of our Summer Camp participants receive tuition assistance annually. BCAP participants come from 31 zip codes, representing a broad cross-section of Brooklyn’s diverse population.

Heart of Brooklyn Mission: The HOB partnership is dedicated to promoting its unique cultural campus as a "must-see" destination to a diverse audience in Brooklyn and beyond. Heart of Brooklyn encourages tourism and learning by making its world-class collections and historic treasures more visible and accessible. As an integral part of Brooklyn’s renaissance, Heart of Brooklyn is committed to strengthening the future of its neighborhoods.
