About Us

One of the first organizations to recognize the potential for technology (then television and microcomputers) in education, EDC's Center for Children and Technology has investigated the roles that technology can play in improving teaching and learning within children's classrooms, schools, and communities for more than twenty five years. In addition to conducting basic, applied and evaluation research, we also design and develop technology applications that support engaged, active learning and student-centered teaching practices. Our work seeks to inform stakeholders across the educational system and shape programs and polices at the local, regional and national levels. Founded in 1980 by Bank Street College, CCT joined Education Development Center in 1994. Based in New York, CCT has a staff of forty.
