Chisang Clinic now has two village level healthcare facilities in very different locations and altitudes. Our Bhaunne clinic, the first clinic, is located at around 300 feet above sea level in Nepal's eastern Plains.
Chisang Clinic is working on the Birthing Center Extension Project. Feasibility Study for the Chisang Clinic Birthing Center can be accessed at http://chisangclinic.wordpress.com/. Some work on the Birthing Extension Project has been completed, but a lot more work needs to be completed before the Birthing Center is operational.
The second healthcare facility, Jorpati Clinic, is located at an altitude of 8,200 feet in Jorpati village in Nepal's eastern Hill district of Dhankuta.
Chisang Clinic and its two healthcare facilities are modeled after "Village Clinics" where it caters to the immediate needs of the local inhabitants. Chisang Clinic's Clinic Maangement Committe has refrained from developing large clinics where rural people are expected to travel long distances and remain away from their families, family farms and animals for long periods of time. Instead the focus has been on the development of several "Village Clinics" where the locals remain critical services in a walking distance of no more than 90 minutes. Chisang Clinic will make referrals to OB/GYN, physicians and hospitals where it has previous contact and t those who can guarantee ethical treatment.
Lastly, Chisang Clinic provides the opportunity to learn and experience about healthcare needs, healthcare systems and the struggles of rural people in receiving ethical treatment.
