Match Education is a national education nonprofit, based in Boston. Our mission is to prepare low-income inner-city students to transcend societal expectations and go on to succeed in college and beyond. The college graduation rate among inner-city students nationally is below 10%. Most of our students arrive having failed their most recent state exams. Our mission is to reverse this underachievement.
At Match Education, we do three things to reverse this inequity. First, we operate a growing portfolio of high-achieving charter schools that are widely recognized for their success in preparing low-income inner city students in four year college. Second, we seek to train the best first-year teachers for urban classrooms, and operate a fully sanctioned graduate school of education. Lastly, we work to improve public education more broadly, and collaborate with districts by providing tutors to failing public schools as part of "turnaround" initiatives.
Already Match has met the challenge of a disadvantaged and underserved student body:
But don't be fooled! We are not yet satisfied. To fully prepare our students to succeed in college, we need them to succeed in advanced courses, AP classes, on SATs. So even though our kids have come a long way, they need you to truly fulfill their potential.
