Nonprofit or community organization

Benevolent was launched in 2011 in Chicago and is transforming the way we give and get support by making it possible for a small-dollar donor to contribute to help one low-income adult over one hurdle at one critical juncture. We base our work on two basic truths:
Benevolent's work is one part technology to two parts relationship. Nonprofits in local communities (social service, workforce development, place of worship...) turn to Benevolent when they would otherwise have to say to their client "I'm so sorry, we don't have a fund to help you with that.
Each need is validated, managed, fulfilled and reported back by a professional at a community nonprofit who has an ongoing relationship to the person seeking help, and these direct service staff members are Benevolent's most valuable partners.
