Christodora helps effect positive changes in the lives of children through challenging natural science and outdoor education experiences. Serving low-income New York City families since 1897, Christodora currently operates a network of rural and city based environmental and wilderness education programs for nearly two thousand motivated sixth through eleventh grade students per year. Programs consist of summer sessions and public school class field trips at our own camp in the remote Berkshire mountains at at the Great Mountain Forest camp in Connecticut; a weekend conservation and community service group in NYC (based out of the NY Botanical Garden); and an environmental science curriculum taught by our own educators in selected NYC public schools. Christodora is a small, financially secure, non-profit organization.
