Description

The San Francisco AIDS Foundation, which has been at the forefront of the battle against HIV disease since 1982, seeks to end the pandemic and human suffering caused by HIV. The community-based organization lowers barriers that prevent access to and successful use of promising new AIDS treatments by providing stable housing and comprehensive health-related and social services to thousands of men, women and children living with HIV disease and AIDS. The AIDS Foundation distributes late-breaking AIDS treatment information worldwide; fights for accelerated approval and price reductions in new AIDS treatments; mounts innovative HIV prevention campaigns; operates the nation's largest needle exchange program; and advocates for humane HIV-related public policies and increased government funding to fight the pandemic.
