Established in 1949, The Arc of the Capital Area envisions a future where people with disabilities have the same opportunities as others to pursue full and productive lives. The services of The Arc of the Capital Area are client-centered, community-based, and address the critical issues facing Central Texas adults and children with developmental disabilities such as stabilized housing; accessing/maintaining medical care, specialized therapies and equipment; handling legal issues; actively participating in community based social/recreational activities; transitioning into school, work, and/or independent living; and comprehensive support for parents and caregivers of individuals with disabilities. As a local authority on community-based resources, The Arc of the Capital Area also provides guidance and advocacy to people seeking information on specific disabilities and refers them to services that will best fulfill these needs. The Arc of the Capital Area provides services and support to over 5,000 Central Texas adults and children on an annual basis.
