WOS is a not-for-profit whose social mission is to create pathways to successful careers and academic advancement for young adults and post 9-11 veterans through programs that integrate corporate experience with tailored workforce training. We believe that by creating a marriage between corporations and academia, while providing the necessary support throughout the entire process, that young participants will be able to effectively integrate into corporations and thus build the groundwork for financing their own academic advancement. We do not simply create the path; we walk with our participants through every step of the process until they are capable of continuing the journey on their own. We do not simply find jobs, we create careers.
To date the program has created employment opportunities for over 300 participants and operates in multiple states (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, North Carolina) and internationally (France). The program's list of corporate partners include Prudential, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Johnson & Johnson, Sealed Air, HBO, Avon, Bank Leumi, TMP Worldwide, WNET Channel 13, Safe Horizons, United Rentals, Merck and Hewlett Packard. Our list of academic partners are Columbia University, Rutgers, Essex County College, Penn State, University of North Florida, University of North Carolina, Northeast Iowa Community College, Western Connecticut State University and the University of Akron.
