The Mission of APF (Association of the Peasants of Fondwa) is to empower the peasants so they can help themselves while they are developing their community and creating wealth.
Our Vision is to accompany the peasants by helping them identify their problems and set up their own priorities.
To assist them to continue in organizing themselves into small working groups and participate as much as they can in order to get access to basic infrastructure in their community such as roads, water, health care, education and technical assistance in agriculture and animal husbandry. To help the peasants increase their production and their income at the same time.To help them share their resources, lessons learned, and successes with the other rural communities in Haiti through the University of Fondwa.
Additionally, APF is a grassroots association and a national NGO in Haiti. We work primarily with the people of Fondwa, who have come together as an association to work for the development of their own community. Secondly, We strive to share successes and lessons learned with the other 564 rural communities of Haiti through the University of Fondwa (UNIF) and the Secretariat National Congress of the Haitian Peasants (SEKONAPA). This University provides access to higher education to young Haitians as rural community leaders so that they can return home and work in the sustainable development of their home communities by using Fondwa as their model.
APF is also a collaborative institution that brings together Haitians and others from abroad to help the people of Fondwa and its neighbors improve their living conditions and develop their communities. APF is a people's empowerment organization where the people are trained to survive and to sustain themselves.
