ArtsConnection, New York City's most comprehensive arts-in-education organization, works with pre-K through 12th grade students in all five boroughs of New York City. By collaborating with students, teachers, school administrators, parents and community-based organizations, ArtsConnection brings its mission – to make the arts an essential part of education – to life by linking artists with children, families, and schools in creative partnerships for teaching and learning in and through the arts. ArtsConnection provides in-school and after-school residencies in dance, music, theater and the visual arts; programs for English Language Learners and special education students; discount tickets to professional performances for teens and their families through our High 5 Tickets to the Arts program; exhibitions of student artwork; evening family events; and professional development seminars for teachers, arts specialists and school administrators.
Through customized residencies in approximately 110 schools each year, professional teaching artists in dance, music, theater, visual, literary, and media arts have reached over three million students representing the cultural and economic diversity of New York City. Founded in 1979, ArtsConnection has been recognized as a national model for creating successful partnerships and has been honored with a number of national and local awards.
