Our nation now seeks to advance three critical objectives in its schools and colleges. We call these
the Triple Aims of Improvement: more active, engaging environments for student participation and personal
growth, greater effectiveness overall in advancing student learning, and increased efficiency in the use of
educational resources. The Carnegie Foundation seeks to vitalize more productive research and development in eduction toward these ends.
