Rhode Island's non-profit energy consumers' alliance.
Dedicated to energy that is affordable, safe, and clean for our families and the environment by advancing energy efficiency and renewable energy through cooperative purchasing, education, and advocacy.
• People's Power & Light's New England GreenStart offers a clean energy choice to RI energy consumers. • PP&L's Discount Heating Oil Program offers a way to save money on heating oil. • The PP&L Oil Bank helps Rhode Island families in crisis situations stay warm.
Collaborating with Massachusetts Energy Consumers Alliance (Mass Energy), PP&L pioneered the region's green power trading system, and has helped fund new wind turbines, solar installations, and other renewable energy projects. Adopting Mass Energy's 25-year old discount heating oil program, the group uses the combined buying power of 10,000 heating oil members in Rhode Island and Massachusetts to negotiate better prices for home heating oil with local dealers. Last summer, the two organizations formally merged (as Energy Consumers Alliance of New England) to take full advantage of the combined resources of the two organizations but will remain doing business as Mass Energy in Massachusetts and People's Power & Light in Rhode Island.
People's Power & Light is also working at the Public Utilities Commission, the State House, and other government offices in order to protect the interests of residential energy consumers and the environment.
