Our Mission is to help vulnerable people and children in Ghana, West Africa who are dealing with the hardships of HIV/AIDS. We are providing them with medical care, shelter, food, clothing, and most importantly the love and care we all can give.
HardtHaven Children’s Home, our central project, is currently housing and caring for 19 children between the ages of 1 and 15. There are 8 girls and 11 boys, all AIDS orphans. An AIDS orphan is defined as a child who has lost one or both of their parents to AIDS. Seven of our children are HIV positive. Our vision is nothing less than the transformation of these AIDS orphans from hopeless, suffering victims into productive members of their community with an exciting vision for a greater Ghana.
HardtHaven Children’s Home has recently partnered in 2010 with a Belgium NGO, Madamfo Ghana, to care for an additional 13 displaced former forced child laborers \. Many of these children had not started school or were forced to stop their education. Since entering the home, HardtHaven has been able to send these displaced children to school and provide a stable, caring environment.
Our Sponsorship Program is currently sponsoring 30 AIDS orphans who live out in the local communities. Each child receives different support depending on his/her needs. Children receive funds for schooling, food, and/or medical care. Many come and spend holidays or weekends at the Children’s Home.
Combined with the skills and participation of international volunteers, HardtHaven offers unique opportunities for both volunteers and orphans to make a lasting, life changing difference in each other’s lives.
HardtHaven Children’s Home first opened its doors on May 28th 2007 and is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization in the United States (26-1469965).
