The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) works in more than 190 countries and territories to save and improve children's lives, providing health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. The U.S. Fund for UNICEF (USF) supports UNICEF's work through fundraising, advocacy, and education in the United States. Together, we are working toward the day when ZERO children die from preventable causes and every child has a safe and healthy childhood. The Volunteer and Community Partnerships Division recruits, supports and manages United States volunteers working to support UNICEF. For more information, please visit unicefusa.org.
Fellowship Overview: In July 2013, the National Office Fellow will begin work with the U.S. Fund for UNICEF Volunteer and Community Partnerships (VCP) Division. The fellowship is a highly-selective, full-time, thirteen-month program that prepares diverse and committed individuals for effective leadership in public service. The fellowship will provide an opportunity to learn about volunteer management, with an emphasis on the production of educational materials and websites for volunteers. The UNICEF High School Club strengthens the work of UNICEF through high school aged constituents across the country. The Fellow's primary function will be to work closely with students and advisors to support clubs and their activities. The Fellow will gather information, create new resources, and implement trainings. Core Objectives and Key Responsibilities:
The Fellow will work closely with the Volunteer and Community Partnerships team, but will report to the Program Officer, Volunteer and Community Partnerships. Through weekly one-on-one meetings, updated project plans, and participation in department meetings, USF staff will monitor and assist the Fellow in meeting their own personal and project objectives. Periodic workshops, activities, trainings and professional development activities will be a part of the National Fellow's continuing education and support structure.
