Accelerator-90 Business Development Program

Description

The Accelerator-90 is one service in Motiso's Business Advancement Program (BAP), which is where we achieve the greatest impact on performances. This is a 90-day intense focus on strategy development and execution to improve market performance for companies led by women and minorities. The business development program is offered in January, April, June, and September annually. Only 5 – 10 companies in the DC Metropolitan area will be selected to participate each enrollment period. Participating companies will experience a period of realignment in order to achieve their desired goals. There will be one-on-one coaching from business development experts, access to expanded businesses opportunities, and strategy for ongoing execution when the program is complete.

Who should apply for enrollment?

  • A minority or woman in a leadership role with a small business.
  • Is open to being coached and can dedicate time to developing the business.
  • The business must have customers and generating revenue.
  • For-profit and nonprofit leaders.
  • Operating in the select industries: Healthcare and social services; information and technology; accommodation and food; transportation; retail; and construction.
  • Is not a previous graduate of the Accelerator-90 program.

What is the business development process?

Working one-on-one with a Business Development Manager (BDM) who will guide the 90-day process, each business leader will…

  • Set organization goal setting, short and long-term
  • Craft a business development plan with measurable objectives.
  • Participate in an organizational excellence assessment, an indication of future growth.
  • Gain access to an expanded network of business developers (BD) professionals for opportunity identification and acquisition.
  • Monitor and manage performance against objectives.

What is the application process?

The application process is simple …

  • Step 1: Email a Letter of Intent (LOI) to clientservice@motisogroup.org. Include the following information in the LOI: Business name, web address, mission statement, business summary, primary business contact, and reason for applying to the program
  • Step 2: A phone interview will be scheduled, which may result additional information and meeting requests.
  • Step 3: 5 - 10 companies will be selected and invited to complete the full application to begin the program.

What are key project milestones?

  • 4/15 to 5/15: Application period
  • 5/20: Selection finalization
  • 6/3: Program kick-off
  • 8/19 to 8/23: Performance evaluation and next steps planning
  • 8/30: Program graduation

What are the expected results?

Program graduates can expect …

  • New and expanded business opportunities and relationships for increased revenue.
  • A business development strategy for continued execution.
  • Ongoing access to Motiso's network of business developers for future work.
  • An optional additional 30-days of FREE weekly counseling with the BDM - that's 120 days total!

What is the fee for selected applicants?

  • A $750 enrollment fee for the program set-up and continued access to the network of BD professionals.
  • A percentage pay-for-performance agreement for increased performance resulting from accelerator efforts.
