Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP), The Atlantic Philanthropies, The California Wellness Foundation and The SCAN Foundation are pleased to announce a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the California Latino Age Wave Initiative (CALAWI). The overarching goal of this initiative is to increase awareness of aging issues among Latino nonprofits, and to invest resources in promising work that has a policy perspective. In addition to this grantmaking opportunity, the Latino Age Wave Initiative also include an RFP for a fellowship program forLatino men and women age 50+ to become advocates for improving the well-being of Latino older adults.
The CALAWI Fellowship Program are one-to-two year fellowships that will run from 2013 - 2015. Fellows, who must be residents of California, will be expected to design and develop a project that address a critical gap in advocacy/public policy in relation to the issues and concerns that most affect Latino older adults in California. Fellows will be required to commit to working at least 20 hours per week and to submit written reports documenting their work and achievements while in the Program. Fellows will also be expected to attend conferences and events.

The California Latino Age Wage Initiative is funded in part by a grant from The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF). Created in 1992 as a private independent foundation, TCWF's mission is to improve the health of the people of California by making grants for health promotion, wellness education and disease prevention.
