Program description

The Latino Policy Forum is pleased to annouce year four of the Illinois Latino Nonprofit Leadership Academy. Read our complete call for applications here.

The Illinois Latino Nonprofit Leadership Academy will provide a series of leadership workshops, on-site technical assistance, mentoring and coaching for two representatives (one of whom must be the Executive Director) from 10 Latino-led nonprofits selected in Illinois. All trainings are tailored to the specific needs of each organization.

While the program has traditionally been focused on working with two representatives from participating nonprofits, this year, a limited number of slots will be available for individuals in leadership roles within their nonprofit organizations. The total cost of the program per individual is $1,500 and per organization is $3,000. FULL and PARTIAL scholarships will be available to cover the cost of the program, distributed based on the quality of application as well as the particular need of the organization. Organizations sending two representatives per organization will be prioritized.

The Academy will begin in August 2012 and run through May 2013. Over the nine-month period, a full 12 days will be provided to each participating organization through one-on-one consultations and trainings. The Academy ensures that nonprofit Latino-lead and -serving organizations equip their leaders with the skills and networks necessary to achieve organizational success and reach their next level of excellence and sustainability.

The Academy focuses on five keys areas determined to be indicators of successful nonprofit organizations: 1. Strategic Planning 2. Building Strategic Partnerships and Communications 3. Fundraising/Resource Development and Fiscal Management 4. Resourceful & Supportive Boards 5. Managing & Developing Staff & Volunteers
