Fellowship Overview: In July 2013, the National Office Fellow will begin work with UNICEF's Next Generation (Gen) program. The fellowship is a highly-selective, full-time, thirteen-month program that prepares diverse and committed individuals for effective leadership in public service. The fellowship will provide an opportunity for the Fellow to be critically integrated into all of USF's volunteer efforts by supporting the work of programs that contribute to the Movement such as Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, the UNICEF Tap Project, the Campus Initiative, and Global Citizenship, and other engagement programs and charged with integrating them seamlessly into UNICEF's Next Generation's core activities. The Fellow will also gain a general overview of USF and UNICEF's work around the world.

The Fellow's primary function will be to help build and grow USF's movement by targeting young professionals and future philanthropists for USF who are committed to UNICEF's mission and a belief in ZERO. The Fellow will help develop and provide further Movement engagement opportunities for the Next Gen pledge program and will connect UNICEF's Next Generation to the full range of USF and UNICEF's programs and priorities.

Core Objectives and Key Responsibilities:

  • Help build the UNICEF movement by specifically targeting young professionals, and educating generations X and Y about UNICEF's mission and movement
  • Expand the membership base of Next Gen by identifying areas of opportunity and outreaching to constituents
  • Assist in engaging the Next Generation Steering Committees (essentially junior boards in NY, LA and Chicago and possibly other cities) to help connect the movement and the Next Gen pledge program to our most dedicated and committed Next Gen donors/leaders

  • Create, record and manage the Next Generation monthly missions so that they are unique to Next Gen members but in line with the organization's Movement priorities
  • Manage Next Gen's facebook page, website, tumblr and twitter accounts to help increase Next Gen's reach and USF's movement and campaigns across the country
  • Track Next Gen's fundraising efforts and donations, and report out to members on progress
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The Fellow will be a member of the PACE team and will report to the Founder of UNICEF's Next Generation. Through weekly one-on-one meetings, updated project plans/reports, and participation in department meetings, USF staff will monitor and assist the Fellow in meeting their own personal and project objectives.
