How Small Nonprofits Can Use Big Data - Live Chat Apr. 24, 2013

Posted on: April 17, 2013

Posted by: The Foundation Center

Description

Is Big Data's buzz giving your nonprofit a big headache? Perhaps your own existing data is already overwhelming you, even if it's only a few gigabytes.

Wikipedia defines Big Data as "data sets with sizes beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, curate, manage, and process the data within a tolerable elapsed time. [Sizes] range from a few dozen terabytes to many petabytes of data in a single data set."

Nonprofit technology enthusiasts Steve Boland and Jake Porway (Datakind) will provide answers, concrete examples, and first steps. This live chat will cover:

  • Why should small nonprofits care about Big Data?
  • How can they use it to understand their impact and operating environments?
  • How can they make it work with the data they're already collecting?
  • What kinds of data should they collect in the first place?

Want to make sure that your question gets asked? Send it to us in advance! You also can post questions or comments when the chat goes live, as well as interact with presenters and other readers.

This free, live, text-only Q&A chat will happen entirely online at GrantSpace. We will devote most of the hour to your questions!
