Program description

AMARA, a non-profit organization, offers a wider range of services through the reliable local hosts and tour guides. The services include tourism travels, cross-cultural exploration, field based learning, free-time volunteer activities, individualized placements, and other services as per special needs of its clients. Its programs are available in all 24 provinces over the country. AMARA's business has been growing significantly every year which truly reflects that its services are unique and fantastic. The travelers/volunteers have enjoyed and highly appreciated AMARA's services because their skills, knowledge, and experiences with new things and cultures significantly improved. AMARA creates enabling environment for its clients to meet their ambitious expectations and bring home with true hopes. Each volunteer program is carefully coordinated by its experienced and fantastic staff and local host partners. The programs that AMARA offers are follows:

Own Tourism Travels

service-2The clients are given opportunities to its clients travel by their own for example, visit excited and wonderful sites for example the marvelous Ankor Wat, Temple, Preah Vihear temples, waterfalls, pagodas, or to participate in cultural activities and rituals of indigenous and minority people.

Volunteer Activities

service-4Volunteer activities are mostly start from one week to several weeks. The volunteers have opportunities to stay with individual families and community members, or to join the activities or programs of NGOs, companies or public sectors such as building houses, painting, fundraising campaigns, or any activity in which the volunteers wish to participate.

Placements

service-3Hundreds of volunteer placements are available at its local partners. The programs in which the volunteers will participate are human rights, and democracy, community development, climate change adaptation and mitigation, natural resource management, educational improvement, livelihood enhancement, social accountability and good governance, labor conditions' enhancement, human-trafficking protection, and so forth. However, AMARA also finds other volunteer placements for its clients if those are not in the above list.

Public Sector

service-5This is a unique service since there are only few NGOs coordinate placements or volunteer activities with the public sector. Through this service, the volunteers are given opportunity to work and join the government development programs, such as infrastructure, health, education, decentralization, fishery, and agriculture.

Civil Society Sector

AMARA has already partnered with 102 national and international organizations, based in the capitals and in the rural areas, working in different fields such as organizational development, human rights, democracy, gender, agriculture, community development, heath, HIV/AIDS, natural resource management, disadvantaged and vulnerable local residents, rural women's group, English Teaching/ IT teaching, orphaned children, youth, indigenous rights, election, and so forth.

Trade Union Federation

AMARA also has good links with 15 trade union federations which their thousands of members are based in hundreds of garment factories. The trade union federations need volunteers to help them with different fields such as research, fundraising, advocacy, labor rights, women rights, union and world trade policy, and so forth. With the support of this program, the volunteers will learn how the trade union federations and workers here fight for the good labor condition and the respects of the Labor Law and how the garment factories operate their business in Cambodia.

Private Sector

You are also given opportunity to get volunteer job/internship with various companies which run different types of businesses, including banking, consultancies, training, real estates, designing, hair dressing, and other services.

Either AMARA or the local host partners will not pay the volunteers a salary. During the program, each volunteer bears the responsibility for own expenses and for any lost or damages may happen during the stay. To make the stay of the volunteers comfortable and excited, AMARA facilitates the accessibility to a cheaper and affordable food, accommodation, public and private transportation, guesthouse, and hotel, etc…
