Warriors for the Human Spirit: Finding Our Way in this Brave New World

Meg Wheatley & Jerry Granelli
August 20-25, 2013
hosted at the Dorje Denma Ling Shambhala Meditation Center

About the program

This leadership retreat uses experiential and mindfulness-based practices that center around the questions:

What does it take to be an effective leader for these times, one who refrains from using aggression or fear to accomplish their purposes? Is it possible to transform our exhaustion, and frustration into capacity and meaning, so that we again can lead wholeheartedly?

This retreat offers clear and concise practices for leaders to create "islands of sanity" in the midst of difficult circumstances and bureaucratic organizations.

Each day will be composed of teachings, mindfulness practices, sensory exercises and practical applications.

About the Workshop Leaders

Margaret Wheatleyis a well-known writer, speaker, and leadership and community organizing trainer who teaches about how we can accomplish our work, sustain our relationships, and willingly step forward to serve in this troubling time. She has written several best-selling books, including Leadership and the New Science.

Her newest book, (October 2012), is So Far from Home: Lost and Found in Our Brave New World. She is co-founder and President emerita of The Berkana Institute.

Jerry Granelli is a master of free jazz, a meditation teacher, and has collaborated with Meg Wheatley on many leadership training programs. He has been playing drums, or anything he can make musical sounds with, nonstop since the 1940s. Of his process, he says, "Let go of what you want it to be. Let go of how you think it to should be. Even let go of your vision." He teaches embodied creative process and awareness-in-action for artists and leaders.
