Nonprofits and civil-society organizations play an important role in the developed world and also are critical to the growth of developing countries. As the importance of nonprofits has grown, the sector has been "professionalized," with donors, funders, and affiliates demanding greater efficiency and transparency while nonprofits seek employees with advanced credentials. How do you maintain a balance between these private-sector values and mission-driven work? Through creative lectures and activities, this course addresses these concerns: developing a mission and vision, exploring strategic branding, addressing legal and logistical considerations, delving into monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, and more. The cost of a student course pack will be included in the tuition of the program. The course can count as an elective towards the Certificate in Global Philanthropy or the Certificate in Global Affairs. http://www.scps.nyu.edu/cga.nonprofit
