Program

Program description

Year Up New York is starting a pilot program to enhance the classroom experience of its students and instructors. The new Volunteer Teacher Assistant Program will offer experienced volunteers from the community an opportunity to participate in the daily classroom operations at Year Up New York. This program offers volunteers a chance to contribute to the excellent and important work our instructors are putting forth to further the education and careers of hundreds of urban youths in the area. Volunteers will help facilitate classroom lessons, enhance student comprehension of material, and assist instructors with classroom management. Ideal candidates for these positions will be able to volunteer 4 or more hours a week and to have experience in either education, mathematics, technology, English, or business. This is also a great opportunity for potential volunteers studying or interested in joining the nonprofit community, to meet and work with professionals in the field.

How to participate

The hours of operations for this program are wide and flexible. Classes run from 8:30am-3:30pm Monday through Thursday.
