Program description

What does FAIR VOLUNTEERING mean for you?

For me it´s a job for which you are not charged for additionally (if accommodation and/or food is offered, the price is affordable and fair). The work of a volunteer brings real help and is needed. The volunteer does not cause any damage (via his project) to the person, animal, society or nature, being the object of his/her help (e.g. a volunteer is not employed for shorter than a couple of months directly within a childcare project – otherwise he/she could cause more damage to the kids who get attached to the person and then they miss him/her when he/she leaves).

No more over-advertised projects with no value to the societies, where high volunteer´s fees go to the agencies and not those in need! Please email your answer to contact@vofair.org describing:

- If you are an ex-volunteer: Your experience in volunteering in Chile (give the name of your organization and volunteer coordinator) or Latin America

- If you are a volunteer coordinator: please share your ideas on how you would verify other organizations in terms of whether they offer fair jobs for volunteers

- What does fair volunteering mean to you?

Your contribution can be a step to change for better the world of volunteering. Your help will be definitely appreciated!
