Program description

Want to better understand the Affordable Care Act, and how policy becomes law? Or gain a deeper understanding of the current debates over same-sex marriage, hydraulic fracturing, the use of military drones, health care policy, or "too big to fail"? Enroll online today in Duke Law's new D.C. Summer Institute, offering evening classes in Washington on weeknights this July.

Constitutional, statutory, and regulatory law provide the legal and policy frameworks for the work that many people are engaged in, particularly those who work in Washington, D.C. Duke Law's D.C. Summer Institute on Law and Policy is designed to address the educational interests and needs of students and professionals who operate within these frameworks. Professionals who work in regulatory or policy-making fields, and current students and recent gradautes who are considering law school or a career in policy, will particularly benefit from these targeted courses, as well as anyone interested in how the law shapes policy and regulation in the United States.

The program is open to legislative aides, federal agency employees, nongovernmental analysts, lawyers, journalists, graduate and professional students, rising college juniors and seniors, and others. Please visit our website for course details and online enrollment.
