Baylor University's Texas Hunger Initiative is hiring a full-time, year-long AmeriCorps VISTA beginning in July of 2013. This person would work as a food planning association coordinator with Texas Hunger Initiative's Regional Office in Fort Worth, Texas. A bachelor degree is required, but no specific education/ work experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity to gain nonprofit work experience, especially for recent college graduates. Texas Hunger Initiative (THI) is a capacity building project that seeks to develop and implement strategies to alleviate hunger through policy, education, community organizing, research and community development. We believe that everyone should have access to healthy meals everyday, so they can survive and thrive. 4.6 million Texans are battling hunger, and we're working to change that.
AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program designed specifically to fight poverty. Founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965 and incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993, VISTA has been on the front lines in the fight against poverty in America for more than 40 years. As an AmeriCorps VISTA working with Texas Hunger Initiative, your benefits would include:
