Ochoa Legal Group Workers' Rights Scholarship
In furtherance of the goal of increasing the number of individuals committed to the labor movement, this scholarship awards $500 to a well-qualified candidate interested in pursuing a career in workers' rights.
Description Investing in the next generation of labor activists and union-side labor lawyers, Ochoa Legal Group has established the inaugural Workers' Rights Scholarship to help defray the costs of obtaining a law school education, including tuition, fees, books, and related expenses. The $500 award recognizes a California law student who demonstrates superior academic achievement, a sustained and extensive commitment to the labor movement, often while overcoming serious personal hardships and obstacles, and an intent to pursue a career in the field workers' rights upon graduation.

Application Process
Applicants should submit their completed application no later than 5pm on August 31, 2012. The selection committee will notify the recipient of the scholarship by October 31, 2012.

Personal Statement (500 word maximum) explaining why you wish to pursue a career in the labor movement and how your background and/or life experiences would improve diversity in the field of workers' rights.
