The San Gabriel Mountains Forever is seeking motivated, creative, and resourceful volunteers to enroll in its Leadership Academy. Participants will learn about organizing, civic engagement, and work to improve their community. The San Gabriel Mountains Forever Leadership Academy offers participants financial aid, a stipend, and a mini-grant worth up to $1,000 to organize a community project. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with local conservation and environmental justice organizations working to protect the San Gabriel Mountains, rivers, and improve access to recreation areas for park-poor communities throughout Los Angeles. Applications are due Dec. 1st, 2013. Class begins January 2014.
