By 2018, the United States will be at least 3 million college degrees short of filling the 62% of American jobs that will require at least a bachelor's degree. The college completion movement includes the voices of President Obama, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and other policy makers, many nonprofit officials, and of course community college leaders and practitioners, but the voice of one important group is often missing – the students!
Achieving the Dream is motivating community college students to add their voice to the college completion movement. We want to know what your dream job is and how your college is helping you get there. Does your college have a career center? Is there an advisor or someone else at your college that's guiding your way? Does your college offer a specialized program that fulfills the requirements for your dream job? Many students are trying to figure out how to get to their dream job and your story can help guide their path. Share your story with us in a video and inspire others for the opportunity to win one of three scholarships!
Submit your video from September 25 to November 13 (noon Pacific Time). Our judges will select which applicants will pass to the voting round. From November 14 to November 28, we'll open it up to public voting. The top 10 voted submission will be reviewed by a panel of Achieving the Dream judges, who will choose the final three winners to receive the scholarship awards. First place receives $1,500, second place receives $1,000 and third place receives $500.
