For five years I oversaw for Comcast, the largest cable operator, home Internet service provider and fourth largest home telephone service provider in the United States, the development of the Product Engineering Dashboard website, which was an amalgamation of datasets from Comcast's various product lines. As part of my job I worked with key Comcast vendors such as Motorola, Cisco and SeaChange to develop an approach to collect all the necessary datasets and architected databases/data warehouses with software from Vertica and Oracle to store and analysis the datasets, which would be terabytes in size.
I then moved on to work as an Associate for KOMAZA. A nonprofit social enterprise located in Coastal Kenya. I was brought on board to identify technology trends and opportunities and turn them into impactful projects for all aspects of KOMAZA operations. One of my major projects was the development of mobile tools and applications for use by a field staff that operates in remote, rural areas. As part of the development of the mobile tools I conducted several pilots where I directly trained the field staff on the use of the tools and integrated their feedback into subsequent versions.
Drawing on my experience developing mobile tools for KOMAZA and discussions with other nonprofits about their challenges with data collection and processing, I founded BI for Nonprofits; with a mission to enable nonprofits to expand their good work to places that need it the most. BI for Nonprofits provides a range of services that will give an organization a new way to look at all the data it collects, radically improving its efficiency. BI for Nonprofits currently has clients in Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa who use our mobile data collection software, DB/dashboard solutions and software development services.
