Hmm... we couldn't find that place in our database.
Are you sure it's correct?
I am a Northwest transplant, originally from Kansas. After majoring in Health, Sport, and Exercise Science at the University of Kansas, I worked for a year at Health Care Access Clinic, a non-profit health clinic dedicated to providing primary care for low-income, uninsured residents of Douglas County. I was the first Wellness Coordinator hired at Health Care Access, and I had lots of opportunities to learn! I developed a wellness program for both staff and patients, counseled patients about health and wellness, wrote grant proposals to gain funding for our wellness initiatives, and networked with other non-profits in the community to help establish a "medical home" for HCA patients.
When I moved to Portland, I maintained my passion for health and wellness by becoming heavily involved in the local running community, via Portland Running Company. I was able to use my exercise science background to assess the needs of customers and educate them about running and walking.
After a year, I began to miss working in the non-profit community. I began working at Oregon Public Broadcasting, where I was able to use my experience gained at Health Care Access to become a member of the Development/Marketing team. I was promoted from the position of Member Center Representative to Development Coordinator after a year of employment. Now I manage our database, coordinate acknowledgements, plan and execute donor cultivation events, represent OPB at outreach events, and communicate between all departments at OPB as well as with outside vendors to further the mission of the organization.
In addition to my work at OPB, I am a Family Advisor and Social Media Coordinator for The FIT Project, a local non-profit dedicated to improving the health of families struggling with obesity and related health issues. I work one-on-one with families to address health issues and concerns, as well as promote the organization on social media. I am still involved in the local running community, as well, as a member of the Portland Running Company Race Team and instructor of a weekly core class.
My future goals are to continue my involvement in the areas of health, wellness, and fitness and continue to learn more about social media and traditional marketing. I love to promote the causes I'm involved in, and I love to work with others to create change. I see myself as someone who does best in a busy environment, working with others to plan events, promote causes, and solve problems. I am always open to new opportunities and relationships and love connecting with new people.
