I am a volunteer and seasoned vet of the Soap Box Derby. I raced from when I was 7 until I was 21 years old. I have raced in over 25 different cities across the United States and I have made so many friends having the time of my life racing. My family was my race team and we were an amazing team. I made so many memories that I will cherish forever. The derby brought me and my family close to one another and taught me about sportsmanship, how to listen, how to follow instructions, how to build a soap box car and so much more. I miss the competition. I became a volunteer at my local race in Washington DC, my whole family still helps. Last year in 2009 we were awarded The Sportsmanship award as a family for all the help we put into the race.
