Hmm... we couldn't find that place in our database.
Are you sure it's correct?
I have a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice from Elmira College, located in Elmira, NY. After working in a correctional facility for a year I realized that many of those incarcerated suffered from substance abuse and mental illness but were not receiving the proper treatment. As a result, I decided to make a career shift so I could make an impact on treating individuals rather than incarcerating them.
I am currently working towards a Master's of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the District of Columbia, located in Washington, DC. I will be graduating in the summer of 2016 and plan to obtain licensure after graduation.
I am most interested in working with adults experiencing psychiatric illnesses and assisting them in their recovery. I believe that with the right supports these individuals are able to achieve goals, gain a sense of independence, and increase their self-esteem and self-worth. I operate from a strengths-based approach and value the capacity, skills, knowledge, and potential in individuals who are working towards recovery.
