As a kid, I loved playing outside in my Florida neighborhood. You never knew how many snakes you'd see, how many birds you'd be able to spot, how irritated your parents would be when you came home all scraped up and stained from picking blackberries, how many frogs you could catch in an afternoon or if that pesky neighborhood gator would be sitting in the road again.

I have no doubt that all this fun I had as a kid influenced me to want to continue having fun as an adult. I'm almost certain that it led me down my current career path in environmental education.
