Hmm... we couldn't find that place in our database.
Are you sure it's correct?
I have been working and living in West Africa for more than 25 years involved with cultural, educational and women's empowerment projects.
Since my 1995 Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship to Mali, I have spent several months in Mali every year engaged in many intercultural projects. Throughout my career I have worked collaboratively with multidisciplinary, multiethnic teams. The work I've done in the 35 years I have been associated with Africa could be summed up as bridge building that leads in many directions. My commitment to West Africa is long standing.
In April, 2014, I successfully directed, managed and completed a USAID/OTI project. KAWRAL was an artistic residency for twenty-five professional artists from throughout Mali who worked for three weeks on the themes of reconciliation, peace and social cohesion. Working with a team of three Malian professionals, we facilitated and managed the project, procured materials, filed reports. What began as a team of four professionals grew to a collaborative team of twenty-nine once the participants were chosen and the activity commenced. Where there is often scarcity, I created abundance that is evident in the finished work. I worked with Malian national and local governmental authorities in the planning, diffusing and implementation of the project.
I have a proven track record when it comes working collaboratively with diverse partners. I have been involved with many projects promoting women's empowerment and leadership. I served for many years as a consultant to Lala and SeguiSo SARL, a woman led project to bring employment to rural women thru the setting up of a network for hand spinning of cotton. I have mentored the Association of Mali Women Artists and helped them develop, fund and install their first exhibition, helping them to establish a support group. And I was the director of South African Women in Resistance which was sponsored by the United Nations Special Committee on Apartheid. My CV outlines some of my many projects.
